At the Mitchel E. Daniels, Jr. School of Business, we know that practical experience is the best way to help students develop their skills. We wanted to give students the opportunity to practice the knowledge they are gaining in the classroom- so we created Pitch. As a competition management platform, Pitch provides a seamless experience for those involved in setting up or participating in a competition. Pitch is there to help every step of the way.
Please read through this guide, as all of your questions should be able to be answered here. If not, please contact [email protected], and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
While Pitch helps to host a wide variety of competition types, case competitions are one of the most common at Mitch Daniel School of Business. A case competition is an academic competition in which students come together to solve a case that is presented, resulting in a proposal to judges or company sponsors.
These events play a big role in highlighting skills in teamwork, organization, and problem-solving. They can also benefit faculty, researchers, and students, as well as offer the opportunity for students to build their social network.
You can learn more about case competitions at Business Communication Center or Purdue Libraries.
When involved in a competition, you'll be in one of three roles. Knowing which role you're in will help you understand any responsibilities you may have!
If you created the competition, or if you are helping to manage it, you are a Staff member. You have the access to edit the details of the competition, provide necessary files, manage teams, and quickly communicate information across the competition.
As a Competitor, your responsibility is to review your responsibilities to succeed in the competition, and then give it your all! Participating in a competition will help you build your skills even further, as well as will look great on a resume! You'll use Pitch to upload your final documents or presentations for review.
If you're here because you've been added as a Judge on a competition, congrats! The staff members of the competition have chosen you to help review student submissions and presentations. You'll be able to see the teams you've been assigned and any submissions they've uploaded, as well as be asked to fill out a survey reviewing their work.
